B2T is a slightly different orienteering hike for city slickers who are mainly from Linz and other Austrian locations. The goal is to find your way back to… somewhere. J
The participants are told nothing, except for the meeting point, on the day of the event. There they are told which bus/train to take in order to reach the site of the partner drawing.
Partners of the opposite sex are drawn by lot. No one is matched with his/her real life partner…after all; it should be a day of fun for everyone.
Each team gets the route and check in points (usually inns along the way where they are to collect beverage receipts as proof). This is a timed event so the team with the quickest time to the finish point wins…but everyone celebrates at the after hike party held at the finish line!
The award ceremony and stories about chosen routes take us into the wee hours of the morning!
Our idea for B2T originated with a stay high in the Austrian mountains at Ennstaler Huette, in May 2004. An influence of hops containing beverages along with the mountain air certainly can’t be denied. *g*
